Magnificent 7th: Sports Relief

This is my first time taking part in the Magnificent 7th although I have been following various bloggers who take part for a while now.

The theme for this month is "Sports Relief" and Beth said that it could be twisted anyway that we wanted to.

I decided that since I am a bit of a wrestling geek and am off to Nottingham on Saturday to see Southside Wrestling, I would choose an outfit that I would be happy to wear to a wrestling show.

First mention has to go to the t-shirt. After seeing it on a few blogs I just had to have it. I chose the slash neck version as sometimes normal t-shirts feel a bit claustrophobic on me and this one is just perfect and shows a bit of shoulder too. It's available from http://www.nickyrockets.com/ for £13

The leggings are standard black leggings from Tesco. I saw them reviewed by Rachel on http://www.adressisforlife.com/ and was tempted away from my Evans staples as the bargain price of £6 was too tempting and they are lovely.  I can never find a size 26 in Tesco so I order them online and have them delivered to my local Tesco to save having to keep an eye out for my size. And postage free too if you collect them!

I haven't stopped wearing my shoes since I bought them a couple of weeks ago. They are Size 6 TUK pink leopard print creepers. So comfy!

A special mention has to go to the lipstick. When I went to the Nottingham Plus Sized Clothes Swap a few months ago, someone brought along lots of lipsticks. I was in heaven! I took along lots of clothes that no longer fitted be and picked up lipsticks in every shade of red and pink. This one is Rimmel 054 Soak.

And how can I mention wrestling without talking about the gorgeous Jessie Kresa? She wrestles under the name ODB and is a beautiful healthy plus size woman in comparison to the other ladies whoa re quite a bit smaller in stature.

This is how she looks in her ring attire.

And this is how she looks on fashion shoots.

Thanks for joining me for my first Magnificent 7th blog entry, and feel free to pop along to see how everyone else interpreted this months theme.

Photo a Day #65 - Malachite Necklace

I had a special request yesterday for a better photo of my green necklace. Happy to oblige! I made it as a sample for the bead company I work for to put in a newsletter and I could bear to part from it so I keep it for days when I want to dress up.

It's made from toho glass seed beads, malachite and Swarovski crystal with a sterling silver clasp hidden around the back.

And for those who wanted a smile from the selfie, I took a few more too.

Photo a Day #62 - Trophy

My parents are finally managing to get me to claim all the stuff I have stored at their place *laughs*

This arrived the other day. It's a trophy for 3rd place from when I used to race cars when I was 14. I was never any good at all, so I'm assuming there were only 3 cars in the race!

This is me in my car.

As there is another car in shot, I must be about to be lapped.

And this is me as a little one standing on the bonnet of my dad's racing car outside my parents house.

Photo a Day #61 - UFO Challenge

I decided to join the "Something Old Something New" challenge to see if I could get some of my UFOs completed.

I started off with this sorry lot.

 What miserable photo!

I managed to get 3 out of the 4 completed which I'm very happy with and will be plonking them ceremoniously into my box of craft fair stock.

That looks a bit better doesn't it!

I finally finished sewing the brooch back onto the felt brooch.

And I dealt with all the ends on the beadwoven bracelet and finished it with a clasp.

And I was extra-specially good and put a clasp on the necklace which has been lieing around for an age!

As always trades always welcome. I have a wishlist here. Feel free to add me on facebook too if you fancy. New friends always welcome.

Photo a Day #60 - Shepshed Craft Fair

First craft fair of the year today. I love doing fairs! I like chatting to new people as well as stall holders who I've met at previous fairs. I like nattering to all the different age groups and buying locally handmade items too. I keep a chest of drawers in the spare room specifically to keep presents in when I see something nice and keep it until I find the right time to give it as a gift.

This is my stall today at Shepshed high School.

Photo a Day #59 - Heart Graffitti

I was awake early so drove to work and parked my car in works car park (7.20am when I start work at 9am) and started walking.

And saw this on my travels.

Photo a Day #58 - Map

I have a map behind my computer so I can try to figure out where places are. I'm not very good at geography at all and have booked craft fairs in very odd places before.

Photo a Day #55 - Canal Walk

Decided to take advantage of the lighter evening and go for a walk down the towpath near work to find a geocache.

Photo a Day #54 - Pink Goth Charm Bracelet

Am I getting a bit predictable with my photo a day yet? I imagine so.

Todays make was a pink, black and white gothy charm bracelet. It was bats, a haunted house and a few spiders and witches too.

Photo a Day #53 - Decluttering Books

I'm working through the books in the spare room to give us a bit more space. I bought a job lot of 500 random books on eBay for £20 when I had a Bookcrossing zone to look after but now I don't look after it, I'm working my way through them and seeing which books I want to keep, which ones are only good for crafting with, and which ones to send to a friend who looks after her own Bookcrossing shelf.

(A Bookcrossing shelf is a space in a public area where people can leave books for other people to pick up and take home to read free of charge)

I worked my way through 2 boxes of books yesterday but then ran out of labels to register them with. I ordered more and they are on their way so I can continue as soon as they arrive.

Photo a Day #51 - Skull Bracelet

My finished item of the day. I've made 2 of these before in this colour but kept one myself and sold the other one. I'll get it on Etsy at some point soon.

I managed to get up to 70 listing on Etsy today which is good news. I'm aiming for 100 so I can get higher up in the SEO search ratings.

Photo a Day #50 - Wedding Favours

We were at a wedding yesterday and the groom's Mum sadly passed away last year. So they had the beautiful idea of having party favours on the table in honour of her so she was at the wedding too.

Photo a Day #49 - Red Black and Gold - Continued and Finished

A bracelet I made with the bead stash from yesterdays photo for the February "Operation Tackle that Bead Stash" Challenge.

Photo a Day #48 - Red, Black and Gold

I haven't done a beading challenge for a while, apart from samples for work so as I had a clear beading mat, I figured the time was right.

The challenge I chose was "Operation tackle That Bead Stash" February challenge. A colour palette of Red, Black and Gold.

I went through my stash looking for inspiration and found these lovelies.

Photo a Day #47 - Teddies

Nipped into Asda to pick up a few bits and got distracted by a pairs of boots that I liked the look of. Tried them on and there was something in the toe rattling around.

I emptied it out onto the floor and found 3 headless teddies!

I didn't buy the boots, or find any heads.

Photo a Day #46 - Clothes Swap!

A few more photos than the usual photo a day today!

I organize a Plus Size Clothes swap in Nottingham with my friend Jen and today was the day.

We book a room upstairs in a city centre pub, drag loads of tables out and put all the clothes we have to swap on them and invite other people to join in. We only have size 16 and above clothes so that us larger ladies and gentlemen have an alternative to the regular size swaps and shop.

When you arrive you plonk all the clothes you have brought with you on the relevant table. (All the skirts on one table, all dresses on another table etc) Then help yourself to whatever you fancy. Simples!

At the end, we weed out anything which is a little small in size, keep a starter "seed" for the next swap, and send a box of donated stuff to a women's shelter. Can you imagine anything worse than being told you are too big for donated clothes when you have arrived at a shelter with nothing? I can't think of a worse punch in the stomach than that when you are starting again from scratch.

And here are the photos from todays swap. Some great stuff!

Everyone who came along went home with oodles of new-to-them clothes and we ad loads left over yet again.

Photo a Day #45 - Button Necklace

I'm on the seemingly never-ending quest to get 100 items in my online handmade jewellery shop.

Which means lots of photos and lots of writing. Today was taking photos of a necklace made from old buttons.

Photo a Day #44 - Potato!

The pub music quiz has started doing a rather lovely buffet on a Thursday night which is very tempting, especially as they lay it ou on the able next to where we sit.

But aside from being lovely, it's lots of white bread whcih I try to avoid, and meaty things and I'm a vegetarian.

To resolve the issue of pub munchies, this week I took along 2 jacket potatoes in my cardian pocket (Handy hand warmers and to snack on like apples) and a  punnet of grapes.

It worked! I only had 2 baby onion bhajis and no white bread

And I learnt that other people don't use hot jacket potatoes as handwarmers when it is cold, or eat jacket potatoes without fillings on them as a snack.
